Boxes, cups or bottles: flexible packing of the highest standard
Flexibilization is currently a hot topic in every manufacturing company. The people at TechNikkels already recognized this some time ago. Thanks to their longstanding experience in packaging for a wide variety of industries, the company from Holten in the Netherlands offers a complete range of packaging solutions for different kinds of boxes, cups, buckets, canisters, and bottles. SICK is their preferred partner and adviser for all sensor solutions.
TechNikkels was established in 2002 as an engineering firm. Thijs Krijgsman, Manager Sales & Services, reports: “The current director, Henk Nikkels, had been visiting companies in all possible industries for many years to discuss various packaging issues. Time and time again he observed that his customers had sealing and filling machines standing around that could only be used for a limited number of bottles or seals. When the customer wanted to use a different bottle or a different seal, the machine could no longer be used. Henk succeeded time and again to modify the existing machines in such a way that the customer could continue to use them in production.”
Krijgsman continues: “Based on his knowledge of various industries, Henk developed more and more specialized machines over the years. This gave him the idea to produce his own line of flexible machines. Our in-house developed line of packaging machines is now highly diverse. We supply unpackers, depalletizers, filling and sealing machines, case packers, and multi-format cartoning machines. All machines are suitable for a wide range of products as standard. They are generally purchased by customers who carry many different products in their range. Changeovers are very quick with our machines – sometimes a press of a button is all it takes. This enables us to greatly reduce the downtimes for the customer.”
TechNikkels’s strength lies not only in the flexibility of the machines, but also in the company's focus on service. “We have found that our customers come to us for our overall concept. Whereas they previously wanted to purchase individual machines, controllers, and operating panels from other suppliers, they are now choosing from our complete product line. When all the components come from different suppliers, you also need different contacts for maintenance and troubleshooting. Furthermore, most customers these days are having difficulty finding well qualified in-house specialists. How do you nevertheless maintain your productivity? We respond to this by offering even better service. Both using the enormous opportunities that digitalization offers us, but also using traditional approaches such as having a good supply of spare parts and providing training. And because we prefer to sell our machines within a limited region, namely the Benelux countries, we are also always near to our customers”, says Krijgsman.
